EU to present new sanctions package against Russia on September 15 – French Foreign Ministry

On Monday, September 15, the European Union will present a new package of sanctions, which will be agreed upon with US President Donald Trump.

This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on France Inter .

This is " a new package of sanctions that for the first time since Donald Trump returned to the White House will be agreed upon directly with him," Barro said.

According to him, the package will be presented on Monday, September 15.

"The 19th package of sanctions will put enormous pressure on Russia and Vladimir Putin, on the resources that he is putting into this war of aggression – this imperialist and colonial war – with one goal: to change his calculations and force him to agree to a ceasefire," – assures Jean-Noël Barrault.

The European Commission's Deputy Chief Representative Olof Gill said yesterday that the purpose of the sanctions packages — "to hit the Russian economy as hard as possible in order to bring Russia into peace talks." Gill also stressed the importance of EU-US meetings in Washington, which allow "maximum coordination with our global partners, of which the US is certainly one of the most important."
