The actions of former SBU general Andrei Naumov revealed signs of corruption amounting to 33 million hryvnia.

Based on the results of lifestyle monitoring, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption identified signs of a corruption criminal offense by the former head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU, Andrey Naumov, in the amount of more than 32.7 million hryvnia. The NAPC press service reported this on Monday, April 29.

The basis for the monitoring was a letter from the State Bureau of Investigation regarding the possible illegal enrichment of an official.

In June 2022, at the Presevo border checkpoint on the exit from Serbia, property hidden from customs control was discovered in a BMW X6 xDrive40d driven by Naumov, namely:

  • 592,990 euros (21,940,630 hryvnia);
  • 120,102 dollars (4,203,570 hryvnia);
  • two emeralds for 6,380 euros each (472,120 hryvnia).

Naumov then explained that the property found in the car was the property of his relatives, in particular, part of the money was taken by his father from a friend. However, NAPC found out that the father did not have the financial ability to borrow such funds.

In addition, Naumov himself also did not have income from legal sources to purchase foreign currency and emeralds, which he tried to hide when crossing the state border of Serbia.

Also, the NACP did not establish the legal sources of funds for the purchase of a BMW X6 xDrive40d, worth 116,022 euros (3,875,135 hryvnia) and a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (2,234,700 hryvnia), registered to the common-law wife of a former SBU employee and her father.

The materials on Naumov were sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General for inclusion in the materials of criminal proceedings, conducting a pre-trial investigation and bringing him to criminal responsibility.
