Posted on 03/07/2024

Law enforcement officers detained a violator in one of the residential areas of the Desnyansky district of the capital, who on June 29 at about 1 a.m. detonated a hand grenade.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kiev.

The explosion damaged 11 cars, but no people were injured.

Law enforcement officers have identified a person involved in the commission of a criminal offense. This is a resident of Kiev, born in 1973. The police, with the forceful support of Kord special forces, detained him at his place of residence.

During a search in the man's apartment, police seized five grenades and about 40 rounds of various calibers.

Based on this fact, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism committed with the use of weapons). Committing such a criminal offense is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years.

The issue of informing the detainee of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
