The Slovak Prime Minister used the Czech expression “prd do stromovky” (“fart on a tree”) and said that it would be better to collect money to help cancer patients.
Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico criticized the Slovaks who single-handedly collected money to help Ukraine and called their actions a “fart” that will not affect anything, reports Denik N.
Fico said there is nothing stopping people from doing what they want with their money, but added that the United States has approved $60 billion in aid to Ukraine and the European Union has also approved tens of billions of euros.
“Nothing will change in Ukraine, and in a year or two it will be the same. All the money will be spent, perhaps some will be stolen, but nothing will change in Ukraine, and we will be where we are,” he said, adding that in Slovakia it is better to collect for cancer patients than for bullets and bombs.
Speaking about the money that the Slovaks managed to raise to help Ukraine, Fico used the Czech expression “prd do stromovky” (“fart on a tree”).
The initiators of the collection have already reacted, saying that Fico insulted all supporters of the initiative, especially 99-year-old Otto Simko.
“Our main goal was the symbolic accession of Slovakia to the Czech initiative, which was achieved. We have shown that Slovakia is neither cowardly nor ungrateful, and if not the government, then civil society can make it clear that it knows where the north is,” the initiative adds.
The initiative participants managed to collect about four million euros.
