Poland closes border with Belarus amid exercises

Posted on 12/09/2025

Poland has completely closed all border crossings with Belarus. The decision was made against the backdrop of the Russian-Belarusian military exercises "West-2025", which started on September 12.

This was reported by onet.pl.

Cross-border traffic has been suspended in both directions – for both road and rail transport. This applies to both passenger cars and trucks.

The Terespol-Brest and Kukuriki-Kozlovichi automobile crossings are closed, as well as three railway crossings for freight transport: Kuznitsa Belostotskaya-Grodno, Semyanovka-Svisloch and Terespol-Brest.

The Belarusian publication BELTA wrote that Polish border guards were stretching barbed wire on the border and installing barrier shields. It is known that buses remained on the bridge between Belarus and Poland, which will finally have to look for other routes back to the EU.

Recall that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this decision earlier, RMF24 reported. Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kerwinski said during a press conference in Terespol that these maneuvers are aimed directly "against Poland and the European Union."
