The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said that this is a “morally difficult” issue for Warsaw, so they are waiting for initiatives from Kyiv.
Polish authorities believe that Ukraine should take the initiative to return men of military age from abroad. This was announced by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in an interview with TVN24.
“Ukraine really needs to take the initiative here, because for us this is an ethically ambiguous issue. Although, of course, we understand that Ukraine needs its defenders to protect its Motherland,” the Polish official noted.
According to him, it is not yet known exactly what ideas Ukraine is considering to return men home, but Sikorsky called the initiative to limit consular services “interesting.”
“Earlier, in December, when I was in Kyiv after my appointment, the Ukrainian side said something slightly different, but in the same direction. Namely, that they will have a certificate for their citizens stating that their relations with military service have been regulated.” , and they asked at the EU level not to provide social benefits to people who do not have such a certificate.
