President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, in an evening video message to the people on Monday, May 20, announced a conversation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the situation at the front and front-line territories.
Referring to the data received from the commander-in-chief, the president claims that both in the Donetsk directions and in the Kharkov region the situation is under control, but there is a significant need for additional protection systems.
“Russian killers are actively using guided bombs in the areas of the city of Chasov Yar, and in the Pokrovsky direction, and in the Liptsy area in the Kharkov region, and in other places of battle. This brings us back again and again to the need for air defense—additional defense systems that could significantly reduce the challenge for our warriors and the threat to our cities and communities. “This also concerns the preparation of the transition of our Air Force to new combat aircraft,” Zelensky said.
The President stressed that there is no time to delay on this matter, but help is coming slowly.
“Unfortunately, the free world still lacks efficiency in these two tasks. But we still have promising work with several partners and are doing everything to ensure that the day comes as quickly as possible when we can add the strength of the “petriots” to our eastern regions, our cities, such as Kharkov, Sumy and others. Thanks to all partners who understand this our need and its importance is the real strategic air defense force in this war,” he added.
At the same time, Zelensky emphasized steps that bring peace closer.
“Putin has nothing but terror. This is the basis of its capabilities. And every limitation of Russia’s terrorist potential is forcing Russia to peace. Our weapons for the sake of protecting Ukrainian positions, our joint diplomatic efforts for the sake of the Peace Formula, our work for the sake of Russia’s legal responsibility for the war” – all this brings peace closer,” the president emphasized and thanked everyone who contributes to the approach of Ukrainian victory and peace.
