Posted on 04/06/2024

Residents of EU member states support the provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and asylum for Ukrainian refugees.

The vast majority of residents of the European Union agree that victims of the war need to be provided with humanitarian support, as well as Ukrainian refugees should be accepted into the EU countries. This is evidenced by data from the Eurobarometer survey. Thus, 87% of residents of EU member states agree with the provision of humanitarian support to Ukrainians affected by the war and 83% agree with the admission of people fleeing war into the European Union.

In addition, 72% of EU citizens support economic sanctions against the Russian government, companies and individuals, and 70% agree with providing financial support to Ukraine.

Six out of ten Europeans approve of granting Ukraine EU candidate status and EU funding for the purchase and supply of military equipment to Ukraine.

Among recent crises, Russia's invasion of Ukraine has had the greatest impact on how EU citizens view the future (42%). This is followed by the pandemic and other health crises (34%) and the economic and financial crisis (23%).

Among the 15 main problems of the European Union, the war in Ukraine, according to EU residents, ranks second.
