Posted on 13/06/2024

Russian leader Vladimir Putin discussed the upcoming Peace Summit in Switzerland and Brazil's desire to “contribute” to resolving the war in Ukraine in a telephone conversation with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

On Monday evening, the Kremlin reported that during the conversation, “Putin outlined the principled approaches of the Russian side” in connection with the upcoming peace summit in Switzerland.

They also said that the Brazilian president “has expressed a desire to contribute to the search for options for a peaceful resolution” to the war in Ukraine, “as reflected in the well-known joint initiative between Brazil and China on this matter.”

The Brazilian presidential press service said that while discussing Ukraine, da Silva “confirmed his support for peace negotiations involving both sides of the conflict,” according to a document signed by representatives of Brazil and China.
