There is a suspicion that this is subsurface salt water. But there is also an alternative version – the rich ionosphere of the icy moon. Geophysicists recently reviewed data from the Galileo interplanetary probe and came to the conclusion that the observed effects cannot be attributed to the ionosphere alone.
